Retreat in Temecula on Friday

Today is Wednesday, December 3, 2008.
Friday morning I get to leave, at last for my 3 days Quilt retreat in Temecula, ca.
I go 2 times a year with Cindy Feagle from Canyon quilters. This is my type of a short vacation. I get a great deal done, see lots of old friends, and generally have a wonderful time.
While I am gone my neighbors take care of my cats. Taco, a girl is the one that has the worst time when I am gone, She misses me so much, when I get home she follows me for days to make sure I will not leave her again. Besides while I am gone they are house bond. That hurts the most. Taco was a cat I found with her cord still attached, left on a door step. I brought her home and bottle feed for for about 4 weeks until she started eating. I always meant to find her a home, but she would not hear of leaving.
When I return I have to start fixing up a rental, work on college finals and generally overload
my plate as I will be ding catch up.
Even still I always remind myself of how blessed that I am to have everything that I do.
So I need to get going and start the day.
I hope to be back and at it on Sunday night. Until then have a great week end.

Sunday, November 30, 2008

Hi,
It is Sunday am here in San Diego, Actually about 8:10 , and cold outside. Well cold in San Diego is about 50 degrees. Thanksgiving is past and now we are waiting for the Santa Claus to arrive.

I guess I knew it would be gone fast, but there is always room for hope.
Have you called all your family members who did not come to your gathering for one reason or another?
Next week end I am leaving for 3 days to go to a quilt gathering. It will be nice to see old friends and be able to sit and quilt for 3 wonderful uninterrupted days.
Well it is almost time to leave for Sunday mass. I have to go take a shower and get ready to hit the road.

Happy Thanksgiving Day

Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving day to everyone out there.
In San Diego, California it is 7:01 in the morning. I am getting ready to call my aunt back in alabama and say hello.
For my own plans, I am going to head toward Los Angelos and spend the day with my great friend Diana and her family, They usually come this way but Diana's house in being remoldled. I am driving because we are taking her dogs and They like to run around in the back of the 4 runner.
I have already packed extra tea to take with me so I can make my own kind of cup of tea this afternoon.
Well I really have to get moving..... do not eat too much today and have a great family time.

4 days till Thanksgiving day.

Today is Monday. Only 4 days left until Thanksgiving day. Everyone is gong crazy as usual. The holidays bring out everyones strangest feelings. No one wants to be left out. All the long lost friends you never wanted to see again show up, wanting to spend the holidays with you, ya......So sorry that they have no where to go, but I just cannot take care of them. You may think this is a bad attitude, but It seems like the truth.
I spent almost all day Sunday running around getting ready for the BIG Day. Then I got home and old friends, I use that word loosely, called and wanted to come stay here for the Holiday.. No way.
I guess I am one of the million Americans that could pass on Thursday and it would never faze me. thankfully I am going to go with my good friend Diana to friends house on Thursday.

Now about quilting. I wanted to get into the quilting room yesterday, but never even saw the light of the doors. Today is Monday morning I really have to get going. So I guess I'll be off to the shower.
Have a great day. do not let your Friends bug you to much.

Friday November 20, 2008

Good morning from San Diego, ca.
I actually live in what San Diegoans call East county. It is more open than living in the City and
certainly more lay back. I drive into the city about 20 miles about once a week to visit and maybe take care of things.
I used to live in the city, there was too much action. Life out east is slower. I like slower.
As you may know I have been taking a computer class at Cuyamaca Junior college. The end of the semester is drawing close and I have been very busy trying to get everything finished. Things that seem important one week, or that made you upset one week fade into the past as time goes by. Therefore I try not to get too very upset about something, because I know in a week it will not be important.
I have not had a second to finish binding all those quilts that are suppost to be gifts on Christmas day, they are quilted, the binding is on, now only to sew down the binding.
Well I promised myself that I would be on the road to school by 9:00 am and here is it almost that time and I am still sitting here at the computer.

Have a great quilt day.

Monay Nov 10, 2008

Good morning all Quilters.
Yesterday was my Stash busting day. So I have to send this report to Judy Laquidare at Patchwork times. She will be so proud of me. I got 5 ( Five) quilt tops back from the quilter, all done with my stash, well I did purchase one flannel green backing. I also got all the bindings sewn on, and started hand sewing one down. What progress. Guess how I did it.
I rented 3 Videos, when I came home from church. That was my afternoon. Plus I cooked dinner on the barbeque, stake and veges. That was great. I also did some work on cleaning up the quilting room. What a day of progress. Oh, yes, I also was drinking coffee.
I met Judy last Year at Road to California, she is as nice in person as you would think. I just wish I had as must energy as she seems to have.

Today I have to get back to life and go to work. Work does always get in the way of quilting. But, the bills do seem to come around every 30 days so that is that!

I do have one picture I'll post for all of you to see. I live east of San Diego in Spring Valley, Ca. It was raining yesterday and the cats were insidie. The favorite bed is the one looking out the window. It really is taco's bed.
She is called taco because the very first thing she does when she goes outside is rolls herself around on the ground. Like a rolled taco....So I call her taco cat.
Yesterday Cosmo the big black male cat wanted to be in her bed also, so they both got in the window bed and stayed there for a few hours watching the wind and rain.
Well that is all my progress for now.

Have a great Monday

The Day After Nov 5, 08

Hello,
I have not been around for some time. As you know I have been attending Cuyamaca JR. College.
Having to be at school 3 days a week and them spending time studying at home has taken its tole....
not to mention time I could of been doing my most favorite thing... quilting.
I did get 4 quilts back from the quilter, I need to take a few minutes to get them up for everyone to see.
I also turned in 3 others to get quilted.
Well the big news: We now have a new United States President. The First Black man will now be faced with setting history. Every eye in the World will be watching him for the next 4 years.
Good Luck to Mr. elect.
Prop 8 is going strongly to Yes................meaning that marriage is between a Man and a Woman.....
no matter what side you are on that was a very hard fought prop.
I have to get ready to go to work. I'll try to check in more often.
Have a great day.

Monday October 13, 2008

San Diego is cold, well cold for me. I woke up and actually had to put on a robe. It is 54 degrees outside right now. My poor cats do not even want to go outside. I usually get up in the morning and open the door and they run out. Today they are still in there beds sleeping and waiting for it to warn up.
Yesterday I stayed in my quilting room and tried to clean house. That is a process all by itself. I have been sewing since 7Th grade. Last year I gave away a large amount of material that I knew I just would never use. Since then I have been going through the material and taking it to groups that might actually use it.
In the afternoon I started working on an applique quilt that a girl at work and I are doing together.
Well she and I are both doing the same pattern. When finished they both will look different.
I finished 2 blocks and cut out the freezer paper for 2 more. I am going to post a picture of the two blocks I did. I never follow a patterns exactly I always make it my own in one way or another.
So that is my first 2 blocks. Sharon and I are trying to do one block a week. With that schedule we should be done with this quilt in a few months. I'll keep you posted.
Here is a link to different applique methods. http://www.qorsite.com/begin/applique.htm.
I am using the freeze paper method.

Well I have to go visit the dentist today in hill crest. That is a section of San Diego that is located in Central San Diego. After that I have to go to do chores around the city. I try to do everything when I am in a area so that I do not have to make numerous trips back and forth. I live in the east county area of San Diego and it take me about 20 minutes to drive in if there is not alot of traffic.
Oh........one other tip bit of information. I already have 5 rescued cats. They all had some medical problems and could not go to the humane society as they would be put down. I have taken care of them and they all get alone well. That was until Oct 3 rd. Someone brought me another cat, which I foolishly took in, The person forgot to mention that this new cat had only lived in a house by herself and was not used to other cats. In fact hates other cats. I am having to keep Tulip in my bedroom by herself for her protection. She is a year old and has all her shots. Tulip plays great by herself and really should be in a home all by herself. She would do fine. I can only let her out of the bedroom when the other cats have gone outside.
I tried to talk to the person that brought
tulip to me about trying to find her another home, but of course no deal. So I am trying to find a new home for a single cat. I'll post a picture of her soon.
Have a great day.

October 10, 2008

Hi,
That is what I need today after watching the market. A good hello. Like many other fellow Americans I feel unable to believe what is happening to my life savings. So it is hard to go sit down and think about quilting.
This is the last thing that I have worked on and it has been on the design wall for over a month.
I went the dentist and now have to go back for more that what I want to go for.
The only really good news it that yesterday I went to visit a family friend Vivian, She was my mothers secretary during the war, WW2
in 1946. Vivian and I have been friends all my life. Yesterday when I that there she told me she was 90 years old now. I believe because she has always eaten a good healthy diet, at 90 years old, her hair is still brown with very few grays in it. I asked her grand daughter if she put color in her hair and iris said no way.
Vivian still can sit down and have a normal conversation also, what a woman.
Beware of friends and Strangers bearing gifts...... Hard times bring out the worst in people.
All those old sayings are coming out of the wall now for sure.

Quilt blogs I follow

Every morning I get up, get my coffee and head to the computer to read the quilt blogs that I follow. Judy (http://www.patchworktimes.com) is the first. I have been following her for years.
It seems to me that no one reads my blog, I guess I do not advertise enough. That's O.K. I enjoy keeping track of my own life.
I Live on a street that is a dead end. My girl friend across the street Marilyn and I have found 4, that's right 4 four turtles going down our street. Well yesterday a girl came to the door and said she found a turtle cruising down her street and wanted to return it to me.. I told her to call the San Diego Turtle rescue. The turtles are getting ready to go to sleep for the winter and before they do that they like to go cruising.
It is so strange to see a 6" inch turtle just walking down the street.
I woke up this morning to thunder and lighting in casa del oro. I have not heard that for years. It has rained and the streets were all wet.
I have to get sewing so I'll be back later.

Thursday Sept 25, 2008

I am not a very good blogger, I get busy and just do not open the computer everyday as I should.
I have been sewing and taking care of my yard. It has not been so very hot outside so I have been able to spend more time outside. Today a guy is coming over to work in the yard and help me fix a few things.
I have also been taking an excel class at Cuyamaca Jr. college. that is going along and is fun, even if I do actually do have to study.
Gretchen should be back at school teaching next week, she had a knee done, after 7 weeks of being out she is finally beginning to feel better.
We cleaned the carpet at the shop and it looks great and very clean.
My furrie cats are loving life, as it is getting cooler and flea season is winding down.
So I'll leave you with a picture of my newest sew project and get ready for another busy day.

September 13, 2008

Hello,
Time or rather days just seem to fly by. Thursday was September 11.!!!!. You all remember that day. One of the worst days of the United States of America. The news Stations all had re runs of the accident, or rather is was not an accident. Everywhere you looked or went there were things going on to remember the people who died in the towers. We should always remember that and never let it Pass into History.
I attended a Margaret Millers class with the El Camino Quilt guild. I always say if I go to a class and can come away with only one thing I have learned I have won. I came away with about 10 things. I learned alot about color and how it works in quilts. That was the best.
I also learned how you may take one block and turn it and make so many other quilts with the same block. If you ever have a chance to take her class go for it.!!!

If that is not enough for one week, I also took in a 3-4 week old foster kitten, it was flee anemic.... but is doing wonderful. In fact I think Sammie is already been adopted.
So as usual my life is full. Just the way I like it.
I am off to the Village quilters quilt guild meeting on this fine saturday am.
Have a great quilting day.

SAN DIEGO QUILT SHOW 2008

Hi,
I spent the last two days at the San Diego Quilt Show. There was some great quilts there and some not so great. Anyone can enter
a quilt. So for a beginner it is nice to see your quilt hung in a show. There were some new venders, some old venders. Some I expected to see there that did not come, and others that should of just stayed home.
All in all it is always hard and alot of work to do a show.
Each day I got up at 5:30 am and was at the show by 9:00am, the doors open at 10:00 am and close at 6:00pm, so it makes for a long day. However it is lots of fun so see your old friends.
I got some great new patterns and fabric. I also go to see lots of great things. I never seem to save enough $$$$$ Dollars for a show.

Saturday, that is today I will work at the shop, thank goodness. The day will start of 10:00 am and finish at 5:00 pm. not so long for me.
I cannot wait to get home today after work in get into my studio and have fun with my new things I got at the San Diego Quilt Show.
Well have fun at what ever you do today. Go quilt a quilt.

First day of School...!

Yesterday was my first day at school, actually back to Junior college. I forgot ones has to sit in small school desks. I barley fit in one. All the students look like are all fifteen (15). My arms hurt from carrying the books bags. The classroom was hot. Oh, and the first night there was a book assignment for reading for next Monday.

Monday August 25, 2008

The pink ribbon blocks are called micro quilting, each square is
2.5 inches wide. Each of the blocks has 47 little 2.5 inches squares. I did this for Rosies quilt shop. One quilt a years is enough for me.
After spending all day working on that I felt the need to go out in the garden and

do something organic. So worked on my Double Delete Rose bush.

At 61 I am returning to school to tax my brain. To keep
it active. To word off the spider webs. Today I am returning to Cuyamaca Jr. college. I am not sure where this will take me, but I am always ready to try
something new.

So I think I'll not be quilting for awhile or doing to much gardening. I'll let you know how it went tomorrow.

Oh, and bye the way the Double Delete Rose was My mothers favorite .

Friday August 15 th.
Everyday I look in craigs list and find so many animals that need homes. It is so easy to take your loving animal to a free spay or neuter program. They are advertised all the time. People are just lazy and then they give up their animals.
Being an animal lover it is so very hard for me to see the animals who do not have loving homes.
That is the reason I have 5 cats that are all special needs cats.

So if you can find a little more room in your heart for just one more or just one animal please consider it.
My neighbors have 4 dogs, all from the SPCA. Those dogs get feed better than I dog.

Take care and go adopt an animal.

Aug 13, 2008

Hi,
Time sure has gone bye, Today is August 13, 2008. Wednesday.
I have been really busy, Yesterday I went to cuyamaca junior college and registered for a computer class. One that deals with how to build your own computer. It will be mechanical and I do a lot of mechanical things.
I am having trouble loading picturers on the blog, and have to go get help.
I have also been working on sail boat blocks for a new quilt, but the instructions that were handed out free and really not very clear. Do not take free instructions from shops....

If that is not enought yesterday Gretchen had knee surgery and today bill is having shoulder surgery, so two(2) of my friends are in the hospital for a number of days.
The shop is getting ready to go to the San Diego Quilt Show.
The owner is getting ready to go on a 3 week cruize..... so basically my life in rushed right now.

When I get finished I'll post it.

Today is Monday and I have to get ready for work, maybe later today I'll be able to add the picture of the quilt.

Kitty kisses and licks.

August 3, 2008 Sunday

Hi,

I got back from the Long Beach International Quilt show and have been so busy the whole week this is the first time that I have had to sit down for one minute.

I am not kidding.

There was one problem after another at my rental properties, some are still waiting to be fixed.

I did spend one day working on my garden in the back yard. I had to water and weed and put down the fertilizer that I use every month to keep the flowers growing. Last month I used some on this palm I found at the dump that was almost dead and you can see from the picture what a imporvement in one month. Well maybe 2-3 months. You can see from the photo that the plant went crazy for growth. I found out it is a Sage Palm and very expensive.
Iam so happy itis doing well and seems to Love my yard.

Today I get to go work on a bath tub that has a crack in it. Sunday is usually my quilting day, but, duty calls.

Did not even get a chance to read the Sunday paper. I feel lost when I do not have a chance to read the Sunday paper

This is the show that usually is in Huston and now for the first year will be here in Longbeach.... everyone is so EXCITED they can hardly stand it.
I have been so busy I have gone from blogging everyday to about once a week. By the time I get home from work, and do my chores I fall into bed and do not get up until the morning.
I'll be taking my lap top so I'll blog everyday there.. at some time, maybe morning or maybe in the evening after the show.

See you later

July 16, 2008

Hello, I have been busy with life. Time has just passed my by... or something like that. I have been in the sewing room sewing but have not finished a single thing.
Next week finally is the day to go to the Long Beach International Quilt show. Last night I counted the number of venders that are going to be there, about 450. Are we ever going to have fun.
At the store I am working at we are getting ready to go there, it is going to be a big job to set up... just getting everything ready to go and counted and priced is a hugh undertaking.
My friend who was accused of stealing a boat had his case dissmissed by the court, so that is another reason to go and have fun and not worry.
I'll report back on how much fund we had.

Sunday June 29th

It has been a long time since I have sat down and wrote a note. Time has just been slipping away. I went to the San Diego fair with my friend. We had a wonderful time. We shopped until we could not carry another single thing. Guess what... we did not eat one bite of fair food. We were very good. And we are going back on July 4th for a few hours. What fun that will be.
I sat down only one day to sew. I have been spending alot of time out in the garden as summer takes me out side. The plants are all growing very fast and need lots of furtilizer. Today I might go down to a great nursey in san diego and look around.
The other thing I did today was finally pick out a box for Goldmines ashes.
I found this great wooden box to keep them in, When I get cremated I am going to have some of his ashes be mixed with mine and we will be together for ever. I will always miss goldmine, my best yellow cat.

Bye for now.

Fair day gone by.

Yesterday was the San Diego Fair day. That was so much fun. I got to go see the chickens, the cows, the goats, even some baby goats.
I cannot believe that I did not even take one picture of a quilt.
The food at the fair has gone up so much it is crazy. I only had one hot dog on a stick...$3.50. that was lot.
Everything else was at least $6.50 or more. way to much for me.
There was some amazing wood furniture items and other great wooden hand made items. I went into the rock displays and this year they had some glow in the dark rocks. They were really pretty, in the dark.
I took the bus back to horse park, you can park there for free, otherwise parking is $15.00 to park in front of the fair.
I have one more day to go to the fair to work. there will be other animals there then to look at.

Goldmine

Goldmine my orange cat died last night June 5th.
I got Goldmine from the San Diego humane society over 18 years ago. He had a great life. I went there with my niece Rosie, she wanted a cat of her own, or maybe I wanted a cat for her. I will always remember the guy at the humane society saying
"Adopt this orange cat because if he does not find a home we have to put him down tonight", So the orange cat came home with us. We took him to the Pacific Vet clinic in north park and the Dr. said to rosy" You better find a Goldmine if you want to keep this cat", He had a bowel obstruction, a ear infection, a bad tooth, a nasalplasty ( cancer of the nose) and the list went on.
Of course we saved Goldmine!. and as the years went on things happened to Goldmine and he continued to be fixed. He put up with all the adoptions and foster kittens and cats coming and going in the house and never complained.
What a great cat he has been. He always purred and climbed right up into your lap.

Last night I had a dream he was in cat heaven and was playing with all of his past friends he has known. I think he is happy again and finally free from all his illness that he has had.

I'll see you again Goldmine.

Bye for now

Thursday June 5, 2008

It is Thursday already, what happened to this week? tonight is the last quilting class for this semester and then we will start another class in just one week. The teacher Karen is going to preview what quilt we are going to do tonight. I hope it is a good one. Last semester she was thinking that she may be moving and so she did not really do a great quilt as in the semesters before.
It is also less that a month until Laurie and I leave for the Long beach international quilt festival. I'm going to take some classes, but the ones I tryed to get into were already closed so I and trying for some others.
Well I an off to work and it is already 8:00 am.
I retired for the nursing field and I am so glad! I just do not want to go back to that again, enought was enought. People I know and ones I do not know keep asking me to come help take care of their relatives or friends, and can not undersand No, Thanks I am retired from that.
Bye for now

She is a master Longer Arm quilter. She does great design work on all her quilting. Every time I walk by this, which is hanging in my hall way. I have to stop and look at it again.
I have been off work for a week and today I have to go back. I got alot done around my house, but as always there is never enough time.

I did not buy any new fabric now for a long time, almost a month. I an still trying to use up all the old stuff.

I have to quilts to bind and one that needs some hand work to finish it. I am going to try to do some of that this morning.

Monday menorial day

For Memorial day I went out and got a new bird feeder for all the birds that come to my yard. I enjoy sitting at my kitchen window in the mornings and having my coffee and watching all the birds come for breakfast.
My neighbor across the street can sit in her kitchen windown also and watch the birds.
I did not get any sewing done today, or even this whole weekend but I did get alot of house cleaning done.
My saying used to be be :"quilting and sewing before dishes"
but there is a point where I actually have to stop for a day and clean.

One day in the life of

This blog is getting far away from quilting. It has turned more into the days of my life.
Yesterday I spend a day down town at the San diego court House deptartment #2. that is where everyone comes to get arrianed for the crimes they commited or did not commit, and to plead. The public defenders want everyone to just plead guilty so they do not have to deal with the problems and it or they (they problems) will go away. If you try to stand up for yourself and say I did not do that, then the public defender has to actually work and try to help you, which is what our tax dollars pay them to do.
To dissmiss a case the public defender has to get the prosecuter to come down to court #2 and talk to the person who claims to be not guilty, If the prosectuter is busy then you have to come back and start all over.
What a mess!.
That is what I spend my life doing yesterday.
No sewing, No gardening, no quilting.... just dealing with the San diego Court system.

Wednesday May 21, 2008

Wednesday.. I am off again today.
Yesterday I spend almost the entire day running around San diego using up gas at $4.00 a gallon and doing and getting things done. What a waiste of time. You think something is going to take 1-2 hours and ends up taking 4-6 hours. I really think it would be great to live in a small town where lines are not so long.
San Diego has gotton so over crowded and stuffed with people it is about to burst. I used to think people were leaving San diego, but as it turns out more and more people are coming to live in the wonderful San diego area and everythings takes so long.
Thanks to my mother who helped me buy my home in Spring Valley 25 years ago, It is hot in the summer and colder in the winter but the there are less people out here, lines are smaller and crowds do not really exist.
It is quiet out here. Best of all I have a large yard with lots of room.
What more can one ask for. Life is peaceful, easy to live.
Go quilt today and enjoy it.

Tuesday May 20, 2008

I am finally off work for two days. I have a million things to do today.
Work on my appartments for one thing. Someone is moving in and I have already given her the keys.
I want to get back to the quilting room, but that probably will not happen until later this afternoon.
I finally unloaded my new lawnmower and all the neighbors came over to see it and wished they have gotton up at 4:00 am and gone down to the County Administration building with their old lawn mower and traded it in for a new battery operated one. It works great. Thanks Ron Roberts. No more pulling on a gas mower for me.
Next year my neighbor is going to trade in a gas mower for one of these. She has an electrical mover, but has to pull the cord all around the yard with her.
Well Iam off .

Sunday Quilt and Sew Day

Today is Sunday, It is also quilt and sew day. I plan on spending the whole entire day in the quilting room. I have a bunch of projects that I have wanted to finish and today I will get to them. That's that.
Yesterday I went to the San diego County Lawnmower trade in at the County Administration building. Yes I did finally get my lawn mower.
I got there at 5:00 am and stood in line until 8:00 am and was number 26 in line. I was done by 8:30 and back home with my mower in the back of the car. Its still is there. Too heavy for me to lift out.

Back to quilting. I started a quilt about a month ago but life got in the way and today I am going to finish it.
I also have some clothing sewing I need to finish. Well I have to get dressed and be on the way.

Tomorrow May 17th Saturday is Lawnmover trade in at the San Diego County Administration Bulding. You take you working gas lawnmower and get a new battery operated Black and decker lawnmower for 150.00 dollars.
What a deal.
I have tryed for 3 years in a roll to get one and new got there in time to get one.
Tomorrow I am going to set my alarm for 4:00 am and go there and get in line for a mower. No fooling. The mower I have not I have to pull on a cord and it is hard for me to do that.

Wonderful people who adopt Cats

I always get up in the morning and read a number of other quilt blogs. one that I read is: http://quiltville.blogspot.com/
She went to her vet to take her cat in and came home with a new cat that was left at the vets door in a carrier. It takes a kind heart to bring home a lost pet and make a great home for that pet. so to bonnie and all the other people to take care of lost and wounded lost pets, here is a big kiss.
and I am not forgeting everyone who has a pet and takes great care of it.

I have not had a chance this week to even step into the quilting room this week, but have not forgotton about it.
I have to hurry and go to work. 3 more days left and I have done my 6 days work week.

May 13th the sabot deal

Sabot, A small 1 -2 man sail boat.
I helped an old friend buy a sabot about 5 years ago. It was old and did not even float. It sat in my side yard for about 2-3 years before we fixed it up and then took it down to the harbor and used it to float behind his sail boat.

Monday I was called by the life guards who are in charge of the San Diego bay, and Mission bay they told me I need to come see them about the sabot. OK I went over there and was told the sabot was stolen and I had to promise to come to court or I would be put in jail. I laughed. I told them the story of the sabot and they said it was reported stolen.
The sabot was registored at my house in Mission hills. that was so we could keep it occassionaly at the beach bar in mission beach.
I am still laughing.
When I bought that boat it would not even float, it was full of holes. Everytime we tryed to put it into the bay it sank to the bottom!.
My friend and I spent weeks re-fiberglassing it and repairing it. It has been registored with the San Diego lifeguards, who control t he beach bars in mission beach for the past 3 years, they have seen it and oked it, and now after 3 years they say it was stolen!.
Life works in strange ways sometimes. Now I have to go to court with my friend and what a mess, over a $100.00 sabot.

Give me a break. if there is one out there.
see you all tomorrow.

Monday May 12, 2008

Today is Monday May 12, 2008. I start a 6 day work week. What was I thinking. Oh well it is only for one week and then my boss will be back from MQS and the shop will stay open while she is gone and everyone will be happy. Laurie Daniels my long arm quilter friend promised to come quilt in the shop, I know I'll be able to do a great job so that is the most important thing.
The other day I saw this surfboard material at one of the local shops and just had to have a half of a yard. It reminds me of happier times in the past.
I just do not know what I'll do with it, but I'll think of something.
I have to hurry now and get ready for work.
Bye for now.

Friday May 9th 2008

It is friday, I can not believe where the week has gone.
I have been working at my regular job all week, execpt for tuesday, and then coming home and going over to my apartment building and working there.
By the time I get home the second time, I drop into bed and do not wake up until 8:00 am.

Next week my Boss is going to go to MQS ( Machine Quilters Show case convention) in overland park, Kansas. I am going to take care of the store for the whole entire week. 2 other past employees are coming in to help me, or rather who helping who. But it only for 6 days so that will be alright.
I hope I get a change to sit down and sew this next week.

I have to run and make lunch and get ready for another day.

May 6, 2008
Tinker and Ickie. Two foster cats that I took care until about Feb 2008.
They were going to be put down at a local shelter becuase they had ickie eyes. Now they are both in loving homes, no longer sleeping on my green chair by the warm fireplace.
The tree trimming people were suppost be be here today, but had a tree emergency... I took the day off work and now they are not coming over.
What is a tree emergency? I think that translates to a bigger better paying job that they decided to do first and were going to put me off until later in the day.
So I and heading to work and they are going to try to re-schedule.
I already moved everything out of the way and .... oh well.
See you tomorrow.

This is a picture of some flowers from Ocotillo, in Imperial Valley.
I have to go down there this week and meet a man about helping me clean up some property that I own there.
I put an add on craigs list in Imperial country and he called last night.
He had some good ideas about how to clean up the property and seems to want to work with me.
Mr. Taylor that was his name said to make sure to bring plenty of ice water and a hat and gloves. He was a little bobcat so it should go fast.
Cleaning that place up will be a large load off my shoulders.
So instead of quilting I will be off to Ocotillo tomorrow early, early so I can get there by 8:00 am and work with him. I am going to ask him if he will show me how to drive the bob cat. That should be fun.
Have a great day

Birday Post

OCEAN WAVES
May 4, 2008
Birthday.
Today is my Birthday. I am going to start the day by going for a walk along the bay front.
In San Diego we who like here are extremely luckly. While it is snowing in other parts of the United State I can get up and look out onto 75 degress
warm outdoors and them put on a pair of shorts and go walk along the bay.
My alarm cats who never fail to be ready to go outside at 6:30 am are already waiting for their birthday surprise. I got them Alaskan Wild Salmon for dinner.
After I get back from a walk I am going to be working in my quilting room. That is my birthday present to myself... will atleast one of my presents.
Friday I went to dinner with 2 of my great friends and it was so much fun. We laughed and laughed and then had to much to eat.
Have a great day

The parrot quilt.

This quilt is so big I really do not have a surface large enought to take the entire picture of it unless I go outside and spread it on the front lawn.

The pattern I used for this was to show off the material, and it is a fast easy quilt pattern for a gift.

I have to still add boarders to it and then off to Laurie Daneills to get it quilted. Fox Creek quilting is her business, she does amazing great work.

Contact her at (619) 445-5930.

I learned along time ago, about trying out new quilters. I am rather fussey about who does my quilting. About 2 years ago I sent a quilt to a new quilter and she did not have a stitch regulator and when I got the quilt back I cryed for a week. Thats is how long it took me to take out the messy stitches.

Last night 2 of my friends took me out to dinner for my birthday, which is on Sunday May 4. Doreen, one the girls who was at dinner is having her birthday today, so it was a double birthday dinner. We had a great time.

It was so funny. For Doreen I gave her a vintage beaded candle holder I found in this antique store. Doreen gave me a beautiful glass cat candle holder. We were both laughing so hard we hurt.

Doreen has to drive back to Yuma Ca. today. It was really great to see her.

Try to sew a few stitches today. I am off to the Quilted Rose to work today.

It is Saturday so I think it will be busy.

See you later.

Firemen Fabric

Thursday
May1, 2008

Good morning, Isn't that great fabric? Ask me what I am going to do with it? A lady came into the quilt shop that I work at yesterday and showed me this apron she had made with that fabric and Yes your right I just had to go get some.
Its Alexander Henry Fabrics Collection "Ready for Action"
I called it "Sexy firemen fabric"
I probably should do a quilt and then take it to the local fire station and give it to the guys and gals there, however they may get offended.
So I think I'll just hold onto it for awhile and see what happens.

Today I am going to tie myself into my office and just do paper work all day.
My quilt room is really calling and so are the floors in my house. My slogan is "Quilting before .....everything".
But today I need to do a few other things.

I found a new blog I think everyone would enjoy about quliting:
http://quiltville.blogspot.com/

Have a great day and go sew if only for a hour.

Aquatic turtles

I live in the East county section of San diego. Uusally considered a dry area of the city. So last night when I heard the dogs across the street barking like something big was going on, I looked out my kitchen window and there in the middle of the street was a Turtle wondering down the middle of my street. My neighbor has two pet turtles, nieno and little guy. My first throught was how did one of her turtles get out of the front yard where she keeps them in a cage, and how did it get all the way around the back in the middle of the street.

I ran out the front door calling her and ran down to where the turtle was and picked it up. Funny it did not look like one of her pets. This turtle was red and alot bigger then hers.

Her husband Allen and Marilyn came running and said where did that come from.

They took to to the local pet store and the pet store owner told them it was a Aquatic turtle and it eats gold fish. So now my friend across the street has 3 turtles, and I am recovering from freight.

I am going to go get a picture of this turtle so you all can see it and while I am at it, I'll take a picture of the other ones.

I just never know what I am going to find wondering around on our quiet little street next.

Have a great day and watch for what you may find in the middle of your street.

Today I have an appointment with a new Tax accountant. What fun for my day off. I have to go over everything and make sure that its all right.

I am off work today so I really wanted to stay home and spend the day in the quilt room finished up the quilt. I have pieces on the wall and just need to sew it together. By the time I got up this morning I already had a list 2 pages long off what needed to be done for sure, hoping that there would be a minute or two somewhere of sew. Good Luck!.

My white cat is siting next to me on the desk, helpimg me. He cannot get to far off or he gets worried.

I better start my list. The first thing on the list is to call Dell to get my laptop computer fixed. I really like having it when I go somewhere. I hope it does not cost to very much. See you tomorrow.

Monday quilting before work

Hi,

It monday morning. 6:30 am, I have to go to work today, but wanted to hurry and get up and sew alittle before faceting the world of the quilt shopp. Don't get me wrong, I really like working there. But I need a little inspiration before going in and seeing eveyone great quilts.
Yesterday on sunday before coming into the house to sew, I always sew on Sunday after church, Its part of my religion. Sunday is so quiet and sewing is just better on sunday. Anyway yesterday I went out into the yard and put fertilizer on all the plants. I really need something bigger than a 1 gallon container. My yard is 1/3 arce and the 1 gallon container does not go far.

Hi,
Its 7:00 am and the cats I have know its time for me to get up and open the doors. They have a internal clock that is better than any swiss make clock. The orange one is "Goldmine" he has cost me alot of cash. He had a nose problem and had to have surgery but does fine. The Vet told me when he was young I better go find a goldmine if I wanted to keep this male cat and the vet was right. The other one is called "C Cat". on his back is a white C, the rest of the cat is gray.
I live in San diego in east county and the cats think this is Disney catville.there is lot of open space and plenty of room to play outside.

I finally recovered from my Acute Sinusitis and will be heading back to work today. I really want to stay home and garden and go play in the quilting room, But I did promise to come in today, so off I go, I really enjoy working where I work so its really O.K.
I tryed to work alittle yesterday on the quilt from my brother in law, but life gets in the way somethimes.

If your like me I have a few too many UFO'S. My goal last year was to finish at least 5 of the UFO'S. and cut down on the Quilt stash. I have been doing very well. I go into quilt shops now and think to my self, that's a nice quilt, but I problably have material in my room to do somethink just like that,
there is so much insperation in my room, I just need to go look around. Therefore my material or fabic buying has been greatly reduced.

The other big thing is now that I am back to work my time is more organized. I really do get more done when I work a few days a week.

Today I an going to gather all my old electronic equipment together and haul it to the goodwill. The goodwill recycles what they can to people who could use it and the rest they recycle to be reused. So it a win win deal.
They love to take it, I love to get rid of stuff I am not using and everyone is happy.

Well I am off to the garden to use some super bloom, Then in the afternoon off to the quilt room.

Have a great Sunday.

Friday quilting

Friday I am at home and finally getting over a acute sinusitis, and on antibiotics seems to have done the trick. So here I am in the Quilting room deleloping a new quilt. I have not been able to move my head for 4 days.

My brother in laws birthday is arriving soon and so I really need to finish his birthday quilt. He is a outdoors person and spend last summer in Alaska kayaking. I am building a quilt with Bears and fish and moose.

The water is going in the garden under the orange and lemon trees, it is on a timer so it shuts off in 5 minutes. I think the orange should be ripe soon, and friends have already come by for their share of fresh lemons.

Well this is a small post but I throught I would just log in for a minute. Need to get back to work.
Have a great week end and remember "Quilting before dishes"
