Sunday June 29th

It has been a long time since I have sat down and wrote a note. Time has just been slipping away. I went to the San Diego fair with my friend. We had a wonderful time. We shopped until we could not carry another single thing. Guess what... we did not eat one bite of fair food. We were very good. And we are going back on July 4th for a few hours. What fun that will be.
I sat down only one day to sew. I have been spending alot of time out in the garden as summer takes me out side. The plants are all growing very fast and need lots of furtilizer. Today I might go down to a great nursey in san diego and look around.
The other thing I did today was finally pick out a box for Goldmines ashes.
I found this great wooden box to keep them in, When I get cremated I am going to have some of his ashes be mixed with mine and we will be together for ever. I will always miss goldmine, my best yellow cat.

Bye for now.

Fair day gone by.

Yesterday was the San Diego Fair day. That was so much fun. I got to go see the chickens, the cows, the goats, even some baby goats.
I cannot believe that I did not even take one picture of a quilt.
The food at the fair has gone up so much it is crazy. I only had one hot dog on a stick...$3.50. that was lot.
Everything else was at least $6.50 or more. way to much for me.
There was some amazing wood furniture items and other great wooden hand made items. I went into the rock displays and this year they had some glow in the dark rocks. They were really pretty, in the dark.
I took the bus back to horse park, you can park there for free, otherwise parking is $15.00 to park in front of the fair.
I have one more day to go to the fair to work. there will be other animals there then to look at.

Last night Laurie Daniels came over for dinner and we went off to attend the Canyon Quilters guild meeting. Only thing is it was the wrong monday night, It meets the 3rd monday night of the month. We ended up over at the canyon quilters presidents house in University City, that is located north of La jolla. It was a great fun home. Her husband is a painter and of course she is a quilter, the entire home was decorated with so much neat stuff it was like being in a great museum. So many wonderful things to look at.
Everything looked as if it really belonged, It was a great treat.
Carrie is such a nice lady. Well we really had a great time and enjoyed a break for worries.
I cannot wait to get to know carrie better.

Goldmine

Goldmine my orange cat died last night June 5th.
I got Goldmine from the San Diego humane society over 18 years ago. He had a great life. I went there with my niece Rosie, she wanted a cat of her own, or maybe I wanted a cat for her. I will always remember the guy at the humane society saying
"Adopt this orange cat because if he does not find a home we have to put him down tonight", So the orange cat came home with us. We took him to the Pacific Vet clinic in north park and the Dr. said to rosy" You better find a Goldmine if you want to keep this cat", He had a bowel obstruction, a ear infection, a bad tooth, a nasalplasty ( cancer of the nose) and the list went on.
Of course we saved Goldmine!. and as the years went on things happened to Goldmine and he continued to be fixed. He put up with all the adoptions and foster kittens and cats coming and going in the house and never complained.
What a great cat he has been. He always purred and climbed right up into your lap.

Last night I had a dream he was in cat heaven and was playing with all of his past friends he has known. I think he is happy again and finally free from all his illness that he has had.

I'll see you again Goldmine.

Bye for now

This is a picture of the wonderful quilt that Laurie Daniels gave me for Christmas.
She is a master Longer Arm quilter. She does great design work on all her quilting. Every time I walk by this, which is hanging in my hall way. I have to stop and look at it again.
I have been off work for a week and today I have to go back. I got alot done around my house, but as always there is never enough time.

I did not buy any new fabric now for a long time, almost a month. I an still trying to use up all the old stuff.

I have to quilts to bind and one that needs some hand work to finish it. I am going to try to do some of that this morning.
