February 25, 2009

Yesterday I started off with one plan and ended doing something totally different. I read MaryQuilts.com blog and found the instructions to the airplaine notebook and after going to the city dump, my sisters house I came home and started making a note. That's not all,
then in the afternoon I went to Barnes and Noble and bought the book Dewey

book jacket The small-town library cat who touched the world

Vicki Myron ; with Bret Witter.

That was a great book for anyone who loves cats.

I read the entire book and finished it. I know my friends will be over to borrow the book, but I think I 'll save it on my special cat book shelf. I'll read it over and over again.
I have to run to work, So later I'll try to write more.

Quilters Cats

Quilters Cats,
Ever notice how so many woman mostly quilters have cats.....? Seems to me like almost every quilters blog that I go to , me included, the woman have cats. I have to admit that i am a sucker,
a real sucker for animals, especially abused ones. That is how I have gotten 5 cats and now a
chihuahua female dog. It is just amazing I do not have more.
Anyway back to quilters women and their cats. I think to have a great cat you have to quilt, because the cats love to sit on your almost finished block and mess them up for you. When you leave town for a few days and come back the cats get mad at you and leave you a nice surprise.
What would like be without a nice surprise under your blankets when you get back from a restful vacation.

Well that is my story for the day. I am still doing half square triangles for the Bears in the farmhouse quilt. 196 square is a lot to do.
Have a great day

The Holly Quilting Day

Hi,
It is Sunday, I call this the Holly Quilting Day. I can stay home all day and sew and do Home Things.
Yesterday, Saturday, I went to El Centro California to see a quilt show it was fun and alot of nice quilts. It is about 125 miles from my house over to El Centro. The show is only every 2 years but for me worth the drive. I get to go down to the desert and have a great time. I always love the desert, and I get to go see a quilt show.
I had a lot if fun. I also have more pictures so If you are interested in seeing more just let me know.
I also had to do homework for a computer class I am taking at Cuyamaca College so I better get to that first so that I can spend the rest of the day quilting.

Feb 20, 2009

Hi,
What a day I had yesterday. I went up to Mission Hills in San Diego. A neighbor who lives next door to my Mothers house wanted to go adopt a new cat. He is 97 years old, but lives in a home by himself. He has an electrical scooter he uses to get around the neighborhood and to the store.
He does not think he is old and certainly does not act old.
Petsmart on Sports arena blvd would not let him adopt a cat because they said he was too old.
so off to the San Diego humane society or Department of Animal Services we went.
I told them right off we were there to take a cat home and if there were any problems about his age I would call the Senior citizens abuse counsel. No Problem. My friend Gene wanted a black and white short haired female cat about 5 years old. We interviewed about 5 cats and finally after 4 hours settled on a cat. He is happy, I was exhausted. the cat got a nice new home with plenty of room to roam. I came home and passed out. I was there from 10:30 am until 4:30 pm and did not get home until after 5:00pm.
My plan to work on the quilt from Judy Laquidara went out the door. By the time I finished making dinner and cleaning up it was after 8:00pm and I went to sleep.
Well that was my day, How was your day?

Step 2 Bears in the Farmhouse

Wednesday 8:18 am
Judy Laquidara e-mailed step 2 of Bears in the Farmhouse out to everyone who send in their fabric choices. Unfortunately I have to go to work today so I will not be able to start until I get home tonight.
Yesterday I took my friend who is 90 years old to Petsmart to adopt this cat. He was first on the list. Petsmart would not let him adopt the cat because they said he was old old....
I told them that they were age discriminating and they said it was their right to decied who they would adopt out their cats to. Older people needs pets and I told them that I would take the cat if my friend could no longer care of it. Still no deal. So tomorrow we are going to the San diego Humane society. I already called them and they said no problem. Gene had a cat, however it passed on and he really misses the company. He still lives in a home in Mission Hills in San diego and family members and friends make sure to see him everyday. His daughter has an apartment there also, so he is well taken care of. I am glad he is able to still live in his owm home.
Gene has a baby grand panio in his Livingroom and plays it everyday.
Well I have to go get ready for another day at the office.
Tomorrow I'll post pictures of my first step.

Fabric Choices

February 17, 2009
I have just finished looking at the fabric choices for Bears in the Farmhouse by Judy Laquidara.. Everyone really picked out some great fabrics and each person has different ideas of how their quit is going to look.
This promises to be a great deal of fun and interested to see how each person"s quilt comes along.
Today we are going to get the first set of instructions on how to begin. i have to go do some things around town and cannot wait to get home and start the quilt.
So I'll post the picture of the first step soon.

Feb 16, 2009

Hi,
It has been
a very busy time for me. After the

Holidays were over I got very busy with life and family. Things are just settling down I am starting an new project with Judy Laquidara from (http://www.patchworktimes.com) Patchwork times. It is her Quilting Along group and promises to be fun.The name of the quilt is "Bears in the Farmhouse".

Judy lives in Missouri. I live in San Diego california, so as I am typing this in California time it is 7:30 pm.. but in Missouri it is around 10:30 pm.

Judy always has really great instructions that are easy to follow and understand.
So there are the colors for the quilt. In the picture above. The fabric is from my stash.. and it is large.
My quilting room is a large room above the 2 car garage and measures about 30 feet by 30 feet.
My family calls the room
"The forbidden room". No one is allowed in the room except quilters. Other people simply do no understand all the fabric and quilts hanging on the walls. I have a set of double door that can be closed so visitors can not see down the hall into the room. So that makes it nice. I am afraid if some of my non quilter friends saw the room they would run out screeming and call 911 and try to get me help. San Diego has a great Mental health facility and I would probably end up there...!
Well my furries(cats) are calling me to the dinner table. It has been raining here in San Diego all day and the kitties want some chicken from the chicken soup I made today in the crock pot. The cats can smell the chicken and just know what it is.
I'll try to write more often.
Have a great evening. Go sew something.
Bye for now
